Devil, Rays.
Well, after a couple of hours at Disney we made it to Tampa. I’m now waiting for Neil to get out of the shower so we can head over to the ESPN Super Bowl party. I’m working with Lil Wayne as he interviews athletes coming in off the red carpet in his own little Wayne tent. Some it of might be on the network, and I’m sure a lot of it will be online. It never dawned on me to wear a...
Magic Kingdom
Neil and I are at Disneyworld right now after a fantastic lunch at Passage to India. (Waffle House was closed). We just went on Space Mountain and I was worried I spent the whole ride protecting myself from decapitation. I guess when we get older we don’t get any braver, we just get scared of different things.
What a week
At a scary obsessive hotel right now at Disneyworld holed up in my room watching American Idol when I randomly see Josh Cloud—my sixth grade boyfriend turned really good friend when we were kids—WITH A GOLDEN TICKET IN HIS HANDS YELLING “I’M GOING TO HOLLYWOOD!!” He auditioned (I guess) in Puerto Rico and I think he was the only guy who made it out of nine total....

Super.
About to take off right now from Orange County to Tampa via Denver for the Super Bowl. Would be in a better mood than I am already were it not for my hatred of the mile long clustercluck that is the Denver Airport. STILL, it should be an awesome weekend. Neil is flying in tomorrow morning and we are going to Disneyworld and maybe Epcot (!). I know everyone says Epcot sucks, but I’ve never...

My tumblr has been experiencing technical difficulties these past few days, and most of my posts haven’t been published. I hope it’s fixed now.

Here is the email I woke up to this morning about it:
Dear Friends and Family,
As some of you know, I took a month off from work this past Fall to travel to “Australia” with my brother, Victor. What you did not know is that Victor and I were actually traveling as contestants on the CBS reality television show, “The Amazing Race.” For those of you who have never...

Gross gross gross
So I’ve just been informed that Whitney Port of the MTV trainwreck reality show called “The City” not only lives in my neighborhood, but she shot a scene from a recent episode in Lyric, the diner on my corner. I cannot wait for the Bridge and Tunnel flocktitude.

These are incredibly moving, and I say that even though I’m already thoroughly sick of Obamamania and he’s only been President for 24 hours.

The first concert I ever attended was Ringo Starr and his all-star band at the Greek Theatre in August of ‘93. I was eleven years old, and I went with my father. I ended up going backstage because my dad knew a roadie or something. I went by myself because my father was too nervous. Anyway, probably because I was a kid (who, at 11, looked about 8) I was lead directly back into Ringo’s...
Someone has a case of the Mondays.
Back at the Philly airport after a whirlwind trip, having just devoured a turkey burger from TGIFridays. I don’t know what was more demoralizing: the fact that my first meal of the week came from TGIFridays or the fact that I had to cut my rubber burger with plastic utensils. Will be out of the snow and back in LA in T-minus seven hours, god-willing. I will fly into LAX from the east coast...

If, like me, you became a fan of the Arizona Cardinals today, Leitch’s FAQ about the team’s history is a must-read.
I’d like to say I called it in training camp, but all I really saw was how out-of-sorts Matt Leinart looked. That ended up being an accurate observation—as he was replaced at quarterback by Kurt Warner two weeks later—but anyone would have arrived at the...

Having a wonderful time with the family of Ravens fans I’m writing about. I got really lucky with this one. Thank you, universe.
My Super Bowl Predictions:
Arizona and Baltimore.
(So put your money on Philly and Pittsburgh).
P.S.
I forgot to mention the greasy dude sitting next to me has been receiving text messages to the tune of Sean Paul’s nauseating “Temperature” non-stop. WHO doesn’t have their phone on vibrate?!
There are 50 or so folks on this little 20 minute puddle-jumper to Baltimore and at least half of them are wearing Obama gear. This feels not unlike when I was 18 years old and I flew to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and everyone on the plane was wearing beads, gabbing loudly to strangers, and drinking heavily. I do not think our next President’s preternatural ability to inspire people to dance...
I'm inching closer, Mr. Obama.
About to fly from Philly to Baltimore, which is absolutely absurd as it’s roughly the distance from San Diego to LA. I may get to the Lincoln Memorial tomorrow yet.
On US Air flight 754 to Philly, sitting in the exit row over the right wing, directly next to the door. I have a feeling that when the flight attendant says “in the event of a water landing” people will be a little more interested to hear what comes next. I’m connecting in Philly and going to Baltimore to hang with some Ravens fans for an assignment. My plane is continuing on to...

I’m at the Corner Bakery in La Habra right now on Beach and Imperial sitting across from two girls wearing La Habra High School basketball uniforms. I am thinking they haven’t played yet today because it’s only 4:58 PM, so I’d like to ask them why they aren’t wearing their warm-ups.

Well, I liked it.
Even though Notorious (predictably) only got 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, I had a better time watching it than I did some of this year’s feted movies like Revolutionary Road and one other Golden Globe-honored flick I’m failing to remember because it was so bad. It could have been more enlightening, sure, but Biggie was so perfectly cast it was like seeing a ghost.

Since it’s a zillion degrees outside and I wanted to see a movie and I tried but couldn’t bring myself to pay to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button—the reviews just don’t thrill me enough for a three hour fantasy that ends with Hurrcane Katrina—I am now sitting in a movie theatre meant for 500 with 6 other people, awaiting the Biggie Small’s biopic...
My baby's got the bends

On March 24th, EMI/Capitol will be reissuing expanded versions of Radiohead’s first three albums — Pablo Honey, The Bends and OK Computer. While this is clearly another attempt for EMI/Capitol to milk as much as they can from a band that they no longer have, let’s just take a look at the tracklisting for this reissue of The Bends:

Some highlights from a pamphlet distributed to Japanese tourists visiting the states:
Most Americans are very polite, particularly outside of the big cities. However, outside of the big cities, everyone owns guns. Inside the big cities, almost everyone owns guns. Let’s be polite together!

At 2 a.m. last night when I couldn’t sleep I finally turned the TV on and began browsing through the 200 section for movies. When I couldn’t find anything good, I settled for a very old episode of Sex and the City, the one where Margaret Cho convinces Carrie to be a model in some “Real New York” fashion show. I bring this up because when this delicate giant of a man...

Went with a friend to see local singer / songwriter Jonathan Walsh at Rockwood Music Hall last night. IT WAS LIFE-CHANGING. Not because of the music—though, he’s a talented fellow—but because his guest drummer, Rob Marnell, was whaling on an instrument I’ve admired ever since seeing Katherine McPhee flanked by practioners.
